Finalys Hull is a well-established business unit of the larger Finlays group. With 42 people on site, the Hull manufacturing facility is tasked with the production of decaffeinated tea.

Recent years has seen the manufacturing site broaden their manufacturing capability from solely the production of the decaffeinated tea products to diverting into exciting new areas.

The Opportunity: Engineering Manager

Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 STE

With increased demand for decaffeinated tea over the past 12 months due to consumers working and drinking habits Finlays Hull is on the brink of an exciting period of growth and change. With full autonomy of the facilities Engineering function and a history of providing support with professional development this is a fantastic opportunity for an individual to join a business which is its own entity within a larger group.

A competitive salary of upto £45,000 and outstanding company benefits including 8 x salary death in service, Private Healthcare, non-contributory pension of 8% with matched contributions up to 12% and 25 days + bank holidays is on offer for the right candidate.

The Engineering Manager will report to the Factory Manager and be responsible for:

  • Lead, motivate and develop direct reports
  • Keep abreast of technological advancements within the industry within areas such as: Equipment, Skills, Training, etc.
  • Providing an effective and service focused, Site Engineering maintenance function, through the analysis and reporting of performance information against expected levels
  • Preparation and management of the engineering budgets against agreed KPI’s.
  • To secure supplies of materials and services on terms and conditions optimised to benefit the Company, whilst maintaining an adequate number of approved suppliers to allow competitive negotiation.
  • Review and improve the planned maintenance system to deliver high-level line performance and achievement of World Class Site OEE.
  • Manage the engineering budgets and support required for capital projects implemented on site and to coordinate and direct project management activities

To be successful in the role of Engineering Manager you will have:

  • an HNC/HND in a relevant subject area
  • Experience of leading, developing and managing a team of skilled engineers
  • a hands-on background with the willingness to contribute to maintenance activities when necessary
  • Working knowledge of continuous improvement
  • Experience within a manufacturing FMCG environment
  • Experience with SCADA/PLC is desirable
  • Experience of leading projects is desirable
  • Have outstanding interpersonal skills
