Opportunity 1: Sales Engineer

As Shipham Valves continue their ambitious growth plans as well as bringing more of their manufacturing capabilities in house, they have seen a further increase in project enquiries and as such want to add a Sales Engineer to their team.

This position will work alongside the Sales function to ensure projects are correctly scoped out with customers, looking at feasibility and adding their technical expertise to the sales process. This is a vital position because it adds credibility to the customer journey and ensures that the sales function and the delivery team are aligned.

The successful Sales Engineer will report to the Inside Sales Manager and have the following responsibilities:
  • To become the “valve expert” within the commercial department.
  • To support valve sales with Engineering activities.
  • To assist with complex valve selections.
  • To review customer enquiry specifications with regard to piping systems and applications.
  • To support other departments within the company with questions of a technical nature regarding valve and systems.
  • To support the sales function at customer meetings when required.
To be the successful Sales Engineer, you must have;
  • Experience within the valve industry
  • Minimum 2 years mechanical engineering experience
  • Experience of dealing with customer at a technical level.
  • Engineering customer value understanding
  • Design process
  • Discipline knowledge
  • Integrated solutions knowledge
  • Lifecycle cost understanding
  • Technical product & solution knowledge

Opportunity 2: Product Design Engineer

Emmerson Kitney are proud to be partnering with Shipham Valves on hiring for two Design roles due to continued expansion and growth plans. A Product Design Engineer and a Research and Development Design Engineer. 

Are you someone who strives for excellence and has a high attention to detail – do you have experience with Designs for manufacture? – Are you ready for a new challenge?  If so, the Product Design Engineer role may be for you.

The successful Product Design Engineer will have the following responsibilities:
  • Create and check manufacturing drawings;
  • Produce detail part/assembly drawings/models using 2D and 3D CAD packages
  • Produce and compile necessary design data in line with requirements of national and international standards and PED (Pressure Equipment Directive) where applicable
  • Create and check BOM’s on ERP with minimal supervision;
  • Create and check General Arrangement drawings;
  • Create and check calculation packs and design reports;
  • Develop and implement preventative actions from NCR’s
  • Ensure design control is followed and maintained
  • Review work for self and other team members as appropriate
  • Support in developing less experienced team members
  • Communicate with other departments, suppliers and sub-contractors as required to achieve best outcome for business
  • Act as an ambassador for the engineering department internally and externally
To be the successful Product Design Engineer, you must have;
  • Sound knowledge of valves (Advantageous but not essential)
  • Ability to work autonomously and accurately under pressure
  • High attention to detail
  • Good communication skills
  • Good knowledge of materials
  • Good understanding of applications
  • Competent use of 3D CAD systems / Solidworks

 

Opportunity 3: Research and Development Design Engineer

Are you someone who strives for continuous improvement – do you have a mindset that leads you to explore how things can be improved – are you a good communicator? If so, the Research and Development Design Engineer role may be for you.

The successful R&D Design Engineer will have the following responsibilities:
  • Create and check manufacturing drawings;
  • Develop product specifications, including New Product Development (NPD), researching materials and Research and Development (R&D) to contribute to product improvement
  • Provide guidance and interpretation on specification details
  • Produce detail part/assembly drawings/models using 2D and 3D CAD packages
  • Produce and compile necessary design data in line with requirements of national and international standards and PED (Pressure Equipment Directive) where applicable
  • Ensuring design output meets specification and is suitable for manufacture and assembly
  • Create and check BOM’s on ERP with minimal supervision;
  • Create and check General Arrangement drawings;
  • Create and check calculation packs and design reports;
  • Develop and implement preventative actions from NCR’s
  • Liaise with suppliers on technical elements of the design (design for manufacture)
  • Ensure design control is followed and maintained
  • Review work for self and other team members as appropriate
  • Support in developing less experienced team members
  • Communicate with other departments, suppliers and sub-contractors as required to achieve best outcome for business
  • Act as an ambassador for the engineering department internally and externally
To be the successful R&D Design Engineer, you must have;
  • Essential - Sound knowledge of valves
  • Ability to work autonomously and accurately under pressure
  • Good communication skills
  • Challenges the status quo – strives for improvement
  • Good knowledge of materials
  • Good understanding of applications
  • Competent use of 3D CAD systems / Solidworks
  • Experience in managing people preferred
