The team at Select Legal is an eclectic mix of characters that all share one thing in common – absolute commitment to delivering the quality and professionalism expected by the legal sector.  It’s a serious business that provides essential products and services to law firms throughout the country.  Working in the legal sector requires security to be paramount and Select Legal are a holder of ISO27001.

.NET Developer

We are looking for someone with a Degree in Computer Science or equivalent and one to three years’ experience of commercial software development to join the team. Technical Analyst

This role would suit someone who has knowledge of installing, configuring and diagnosing VMware (or similar), desktop operating systems and server operating systems. The right candidate will have at least two years’ experience of providing support and installation services.

Meet The Team: Stuart Cox – Support Team Manager

Q1.  What do you do and how long of have you been with the business?

I am the Support Manager. I joined February 2015 so around 4 ½ years.

Q2.  What opportunity have you had to grow within the business  in the time you have been with Select Legal?

I started with the company as a Support Analyst. In this role I learnt about the company, its flagship product – Lawfusion and our clients. After 10 months, I stepped up to be the Support Team Leader, deputising where necessary for the Support Manager. Then in May 2016 I became the Support Manager.

Q3.  What’s the best thing about your job and how would you describe the culture?

The best thing is interacting and helping our clients. Building up a rapport is very rewarding. I liked my previous roles in the company but managing and leading a team is certainly an enjoyable challenge. The culture at Select Legal helps with this. I have the freedom to manage my team and I am encouraged to come up with new ideas to help benefit my department and the company. At the same, I can always ask for advice from management who are there to support me.

Q4.  What kind of person do you think would enjoy and succeed in your team at Select?

Someone who is not afraid of hard work and is willing learn. Every day has a new challenge and is a learning experience. Customer service is something we are big on, so anyone new to team needs to have a solid understanding of what it means.

Q5.  What would you say to anyone considering applying for a career with Select Legal?

Go for it. It is an exciting time for Select Legal which is evident by our growth. During your initial days at the company you are well looked after as go through an induction plan which ensures we can see your progression. As the company recruits internally as well as externally, opportunities to progress within the company is certainly a possibility.

Today Stuart is the IT Support Manager heading up a team of 8 that is growing all the time.

Meet The Team: Adam Lonsdale – Development Manager

Q1.  What do you do and how long of have you been with the business?

I’m the Development Manager. I joined over 9 years ago and I’m responsible for the day-to-day running of the Development Team as well as the software we write. I oversee releases, bug fixing, projects, scheduling and much more as part of my role.

Q2.  What opportunity have you had to grow within the business in the time you have been with Select Legal?
I joined in 2010 as a junior developer working on converting some of the legacy products into the newer technologies. Since then we’ve exploded in terms of staff size as a company and it’s been great to see it grow and new people come into the business. I worked up from a junior dev to team leader and then to the management role a few years ago.

Q3.  What’s the best thing about your job and how would you describe the culture?
I think the best thing about Select Legal is the people that work here. Everyone is dedicated to the cause and wants the best for the product and our customers. We pull together to get things done and new ideas are nurtured. We allocate CPD time for developers to investigate technologies and things that interest them, where we might not have time to otherwise and this helps improve knowledge in the team as well as build a better application.

Q4.  What kind of person do you think would enjoy and succeed in your team at Select?  
I think the team has such a passion about programming and creating new things that anyone who fits in with that brief will succeed. Some knowledge of sci-fi will definitely go a long way too… If you enjoy IT, programming and building quality products that are in-demand then you’re in the right place.
